Caroline Dama
In coastal Kenya, Caroline Dama has supervised the planting of over one million trees. She leads Green World’s partnership with the Red Cross, ensuring that famine-stricken areas are growing food-producing trees and protecting their soil from erosion with the planting of mangrove forests along the Kenyan coast. Currently, Caroline works with 65 primary schools in Kenya to build tree and vegetable nurseries – teaching thousands of children the importance of living in harmony with their environment.
Triveni Acharya
Triveni Acharya has rescued more than five thousand young girls and women from human traffickers in brothels across India. The Rescue Foundation operates 3 safe homes across Maharashtra and one in Delhi where rescued girls are entered into Holistic Rehabilitation programs that offer psychosocial counseling, healthcare, skills training, and formal education. For her work, Triveni has been awarded the Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award, the Civil Courage Prize, and the World of Children Humanitarian Prize. For these young girls, Triveni is a ray of hope.
